Overview
If you are interested in personal data protection, enjoy working in a team to overcome challenges, want to know how this subject works in practice and are looking for participatory training in which you are the protagonist, we have good news for you! After a long legislative process, the LGPD (Brazil's General Data Protection Law) is finally coming into force! As a result, many institutions in the public and private sectors must understand this law and comply with it, regardless of their sector or economic size. A new field of practice is growing rapidly in the country.
Centro DTIBR therefore announces its updated and in-depth online course on the subject, focused on the practical application of knowledge and taught by a multidisciplinary team of highly renowned professors with vast experience in the field. The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive technical view not only of the LGPD, but of the Brazilian personal data protection macrosystem as a whole, as well as comparing it with some international systems, such as the European GDPR.
This course is in its 3rd edition this year and has already trained more than 200 professionals, having been rated very good or excellent by about 95% of former students. It is, therefore, a well-planned, tried-and-tested course with a high satisfaction rate among former participants!

Course content
The course content comprises a detailed study of the Brazilian General Personal Data Protection Law - LGPD, alongside the other laws related to the subject, such as the Marco Civil da Internet (Brazil's Internet Bill of Rights), the Consumer Protection Code, the Positive Credit Registry Law and the European GDPR. Always with a focus on the practical application of knowledge and the analysis of real cases.
The topics covered include, among others: fundamental concepts and principles of personal data processing; constitutional basis of the subject in Brazil and an overview of the national data protection microsystems; legal bases for the processing of personal data and the parties involved; civil liability regimes applicable to these parties; scope of the LGPD and the ANPD (Brazil's National Data Protection Authority); technology and information security applied to personal data protection, with a real-time simulation of database configuration according to privacy by design; technical notions of machine learning, cryptography and hashing, taught by computer science professionals; data subject rights, how to exercise them and controversial practical issues; data protection in human resources (background checks, main legal bases in the employment contract and limits on the use of technological tools); the data life cycle, international transfers and the sanctions provided for in the LGPD.
In addition to this extensive syllabus, there will also be a hands-on module developed throughout the course, under the close supervision of Centro DTIBR's teaching assistants, in which participants themselves will prepare a Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy Statement based on a detailed dossier of a hypothetical case. It includes a live session presenting the results, followed by review and comments from the DTIBR Team. The best work will also compete for prizes. Previous editions made it clear that this module is vital for participants to actually apply in practice the knowledge acquired throughout the course, enabling them to work in personal data protection.
Method
The course will be taught live and online, with a focus on the practical application of knowledge, on the dates/times already published, over 11 class sessions. In addition, there will be 08 Team meetings, prioritizing students' active participation in solving concrete problems, for a total of 50 hours, not counting breaks.
To make the most of the course, participants should have access to a device with a webcam and microphone (preferably a laptop or desktop), as well as a good-quality internet connection. Centro DTIBR is not responsible for failures in participants' equipment or the quality of their connection. Duly registered students will receive further instructions at the e-mail address provided at registration.
It is important to stress that this is not a course in which participants simply follow the classes passively. On the contrary, every student must actively take part in the course, engaging in their Team's meetings to carry out the tasks of the hands-on module throughout the course, according to the calendar available on this page.
Target audience
Personal data protection is a topic of worldwide importance. In Brazil, even before the LGPD came into force, the controversies over data sharing to fight COVID-19 and the tracking of people only confirm this. The subject reaches every sector and economic size, from micro-enterprises to multinationals, and is also relevant to the Public Administration.
The course is therefore recommended for students, entrepreneurs, executives and managers, especially lawyers, IT and information security managers, marketing professionals, independent professionals and civil servants who already work or intend to work as a data protection officer (DPO) or to provide consulting and advisory services on personal data protection.
